The mission of KEY Project is to nurture and promote the cultural, environmental, social, economic and recreational well-being of the Kualoa-Heʻeia area by providing a vital grassroots civic resource that effectively serves the needs of our diverse multicultural community.
Job purpose
The purpose of the Kūpuna Program Coordinator is to support the mission of KEY Project through the continuous development of the Na Pua O Koʻolau Kūpuna Program, thus promoting socialization, culture, exercise, education, and overall health and well being of current and future program participants. This position participates in organizational programming and community service through collaboration with team members and external partnerships to further KEY’s reach into its designated service area.
Duties and responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate all activities for the Kūpuna Program including but not limited to breakfast and experiences to promote physical, cognitive, and social connectedness as prescribed by grants scope of services and suggested by participants.
- Promotes program activities, recruits participants and community collaborators
- Oversee staff, contractors, volunteers, resources and how the delivery of services is targeted at fulfilling the goals of the program and needs of the participants
- Develop modes of communication to support program objectives (newsletters, website blurbs, social media etc.) to effectively inform participants and the public of up-coming program opportunities, and agency events, activities and/or services
- Selects, tailors and implements appropriate tools for data collection, monitoring and evaluation to ensure the quality and effectiveness of program activities
- Maintains documentation and the programs database for the purpose of monitoring and tracking and reporting the progress of goals and objectives
- Documents all budget expenditures and prepares reports as requested
- Supports Coordination of monthly Food Bank community distributions, including volunteers and required reporting
- Performs general clerical duties to include but not limited to: scanning, copying, mailing, etc.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s Degree in Social Work, Aging, Public Health, Business or other related fields, or commensurate experience
- Experience: At least 2 years of program planning experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask, prioritize, and delegate tasks.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Proficient in MS Office, Google Suite, Canva, etc.
- Clean driving record
- Knowledge of Hawaiian culture, language, and practices
Preferred qualifications:
- 1 year supervisory experience that includes training and supervising staff.
- 1 year of budget management experience
- Experience planning, coordinating, and executing events
- Communications and marketing experience
- Knowledge of Koʻolau, Oʻahu, and communities within KEY Project’s service area
Working conditions
This is a full time (40 hours per week) position and will require work on some evenings and weekends. Most of the work duties required are in the office at a desk during normal business hours. Job functions will be performed both indoor and outdoor environments, with some offsite responsibilities.
Physical requirements
This position requires the ability to perform sedentary work sitting at a desk, the ability to lift 50 pounds, and walking and moving around the office and all facilities, including second floor/upstairs. Job duties may also require working in outdoor environments with various terrain and conditions, both on and off campus.
